10 Things Creation Reveals About God

1)   God is One. Genesis 1:1 says that in the beginning “God” created the earth. God is one; he did not call upon other “gods” to help him. The creation itself did not spring forth everything, God did. The one God made everything.

2)   God is Loving. God did not have to create anything, yet he chose to experience temporality and create us in order that we might have life in and through him.

3)   God is Active. God created humanity and entered into a covenant with us, sustaining us, and caring for us. He did not create the world and back off, rather God created the world and violently has been pursuing us ever since. He is not, like a deist would believe, inactive and docile.

4)   God is Powerful. The roaring of oceans, powerful winds, and erupting volcanoes give only a sample of the power that resides within God. For God is the maker of such systems and those systems bow to his sovereignty!

5)   God is Holy. God is not evil, but good. Everything that is within him is good. God is only good. Although humanity has stained God’s good creation, God will again renew and make holy that which has been defiled.

6)   God is Gracious. Although humanity deserves nothing from God, God is still gracious by giving life and love towards humanity. Even non-believers receive the grace of God with every breath they take. When Christ returns, Christ will fully renew and restore his world and people!

7)   God is Trinitarian. In the process of creating humanity God states, “Let us make man in our own image.”  God exist eternally as Father, Son, and Spirit and creation is made from them!

8)   God is Unmade. God was not made, but  has existed eternally, independent of any maker. God is eternal and creation is not.

9)   God is Artistic. The world is a large canvas in which the artist, God, decided to make beautiful. God could have made the world unattractive, but chose to make it unique and beautiful. God is creative and has made his people creative.

10) God is Free. God is not dependent upon his creation; he is free to do as he pleases. His motive then for loving us is purely intimacy and love.
